Eoghan Rua Cill Chua Notes W/E 18th June

Congratulations to Down seniors, especially the Cill Chua men, on their win over Cavan last weekend in the Tailteann Cup and best of luck in the semi final this Sunday in Croke Park against Laois at 4pm.

Well done to Ceilum Doherty who made the GAA Tailteann Cup team of the week.

The seniors suffered a defeat in Loughinisland on Friday past but can be proud of their second half efforts were they gave it everything. The seconds had a good win over Mayobridge on Saturday while the thirds had a massive win over Carryduff on Sunday scoring a magnificent eleven goals.

The thirds also had a game midweek and beat Castlewellan 5-18 to 0-7.

The minors kept up their good form last week defeating Teconnaght in the league while the under 13s lost in Bredagh. The under 15s had friendly against Rostrevor and came out on top.

Well done to the senior Camogs on their 3-9 to 3-4 win over a Bredagh last Wednesday. Fantastic performance.

It was a good weekend for the ladies footballers also who had a facile victory over neighbours Bryansford in a dominant display from start to finish.

Cumann na mBunscoil Finals.

What a fantastic display of football was witnessed last week from both teams, St Colman’s Primary School Annaclone and St Malachy’s Primary and Nursery School, Kilcoo, who both reached the Girls and Boys Finals.

A big credit must go to both schools for the work that went into preparing the girls and boys for these finals.

Unfortunately there can only be one winner and that was Kilcoo who came away with both cups for the second year in a row.

Congratulations to Mr Lawlor (Headmaster St Malachy`s Kilcoo) his management team and school staff on their success.

Congratulations to Kevin Devlin and Paddy Morgan (Tullyree) who recently shared the prize in the Friends of Kilcoo Last one standing competition.
