Eoghan Rua Cill Chua Notes W/E 10th April
Our All Ireland club champions returned to competitive action last week and showed no hangover from the success. They travelled to Newcastle for the start of the Down all county league and came away with a 0-16 to 0-4 victory over Bryansford, a good team performance from start to finish.
This week the lads face Clonduff in our first home game, again on Thursday evening.
Our premier reserve side also got off to a positive start, also on the road, defeating Burren by a point on Saturday evening.
The reserves, didn’t fare as well but did put up a good performance away to a Tullylish seconds side featuring a number of seasoned campaigners. Good luck to new manager Emmett Devlin for the season ahead.
There was also a good start to 2022 for our Under 18 girls who had a 4 point win over St Johns last week while our senior ladies went down to Carryduff in division one following their brilliant start to the season beating Castlewellan.
Commiserations to Down under 20s on their recent championship exit to Tyrone and in particular to our own, Conor Laverty, Darragh O’Hanlon, Marc Rogan, Sean Og McCusker, Luke Clarke, MacDarragh Hynes, Jack Devlin and Callum Rogers.
Best of luck to Down minors against Fermanagh in the championship this Saturday especially our representatives Taidgh O’Hanlon and Conal Gribben.
The club are seeking match ball sponsors for our O’Neills All County League Division 1 fixtures for 2022. The cost is £40 per game and if interested please get in touch with Felim McGreevy on +44 7714 528461.
