Cill Chua club notes

Eoghan Rua Cill Chua Notes W/E 3rd October

Pride of place in the club this week goes to our Under 17 boys who won the championship cup competition on Saturday.

The lads were superb from start to finish and were goal hungry from the off, hitting the net 8 times in all in a high scoring encounter with Ballyholland.

The crowd in Burren were treated to some brilliant football over the hour as our lads ran out winners on an 8-11 to 2-19scoreline.

Huge congratulations to the squad and management team of Dominic McEvoy, Anthony Devlin, Pearce McEvoy, Conor Laverty and Marc Rogan.

It was also a good week for the senior ladies as they qualified to the penultimate stage of the intermediate A championship, were they will meet Burren.

Pairc Eoghain Rua was the venue for the quarter final tie with St John’s on Saturday afternoon, Brian Devlins team winning handsomely in the end 3-17 to 1-9. The goalscorers were Nicole Johnston x 2 and Catriona Kane.

Well done also to our under 15 girls who defeated Dundrum on Sunday. They produced a top display to reach the championship semi final.

Our Under 13 and minor girls were also in championship action in the past week and unfortunately exited both. The minors fell to an agonising one point defeat to Clonduff while the under 13s went down to an impressive St John’s.

Good luck to both our senior men’s and ladies teams this coming weekend in their championship games. The ladies meet Burren on Saturday in the semi final while the seniors have a quarter final tie, time, opponent and venue unknown at the time of writing. Draw was to be made on Monday evening, check out local press and our pages for fixture information.
